Supplementary table 5 shows that, with inverse variance weighting, sex hormone binding globulin predicted by seven genetic variants from the SHBG gene region was positively associated with thromboembolism overall (1.35, 1.02 to 1.79); however, it was inversely associated with myocardial infarction in men (0.69, 0.49 to 0.97) and was not associated with heart failure in the UK Biobank (1.42, 0.64 to 3.16).
