Studies showed that rare variants in phospholipase D3 (PLD3) gene were associated with late-onset AD (LOAD) in European cohorts (Cruchaga et al., 2014; Schulte et al., 2015), and a coding variant p.V232M in PLD3 increased AD risk by twofold (Cruchaga et al., 2014). Here, PLD3 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
