In support of this observation, a transgenic mouse model of AD [harboring the Swedish (K670N/M671L) and Indiana (V717F) APP mutations] placed on a diet enriched with high oleic acid levels showed neuroprotective effects typified by reduced BACE, increased amyloid clearance enzyme (IDE) and reduced amyloid plaques (Amtul et al., 2011). The gene discussed is BACE1; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
