The MYC (MYC Proto-Oncogene, BHLH Transcription Factor, other names are C-MYC or V-MYC) family of proto-oncogenes consists of c-MYC that is found to be amplified in many types of cancer, and other paralogs expressed in specialized cases, such as MYCN (this gene amplification has been detected only in neuroblastoma [38]), and MYCL (has been found in lung carcinoma [39]). The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is lung carcinoma.
