AXIN2 and cancer: Wnt/β-catenin pathway may contribute to cancer-like phenotype of cells via abnormal expression of Secreted frizzled-related proteins (SRFP-1), Wnt inhibitory factor (WIF), Dickkopf-related protein (DKK), Axis inhibition protein 2 (AXIN2) and increased levels of Wnt signaling proteins including Lymphoid enhancer-binding factor 1 (LEF-1) or T-cell factor 4 (TCF-4) binding to which β-catenin influence expression of target genes (eg. Cyclin D or c-Myc).
