Bevacizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds to VEGF, impairing VEGF/VEGFR interaction, approved in 2004 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) in combination with standard therapy (Ferrara et al., 2004; Hurwitz et al., 2004).
