NFKB1 and Sepsis: NF-κB1: The transcription factor NF-κB1 mediates the cell’s acute response to pathogenic and inflammatory stimuli, activating many of the so-called “immediate early genes” (tissue factors, endothelins, cytokines) involved in sepsis, and regulating some 500 different genes in all along with the processes of immune response, cell proliferation, and apoptosis.
