While some studies show that treatment of rodents on an obesogenic high-fat diet with polyphenols decreases PPARγ expression in NAFLD [40,52], others are consistent with our study and showed that higher hepatic PPARγ induced by polyphenols may be a beneficial outcome in NAFLD, causing improved hepatic insulin signaling and decreased hepatic steatosis [53]. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
