Early recommendations for testing were primarily targeted to individuals that had a personal history of early-onset hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC), and testing was only offered for BRCA1 and BRCA2, two genes associated with an increased risk of HBOC, or TP53 for individuals that had a family history suggestive of Li-Fraumeni syndrome. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
