The top 10 KEGG pathway enrichment analysis results indicated that aberrantly hydroxymethylated DEGs were enriched in protein digestion and absorption, ECM–receptor interaction, focal adhesion, AGE–RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications, PI3K–Akt signaling pathway, platelet activation, pathways in cancer, metabolic pathways, basal cell carcinoma, and glycerolipid metabolism (Fig. 6). This evidence concerns the gene MMRN1 and basal cell carcinoma.
