In the multiple logistic regression analysis with or without adjustment for APACHE II score, higher age and pre-existing CKD were associated with an increased probability of persistent AKI, while a higher IL-6 level was associated with a decreased probability of persistent AKI (IL-6 [per tertile], adjusted with APACHE II score, adjusted OR, 0.67; 95% CI, 0.49–0.91; P = 0.0097; adjusted without APACHE II score, adjusted OR, 0.71; 95% CI, 0.53–0.95; P = 0.023) (Table 4A and Table 4B). Here, IL6 is linked to chronic kidney disease.
