Furthermore, clinical benefits for use of osimertinib as first-line treatment in patients harbouring so-called common EGFR gene mutations (the exon 21 L858R point mutation and the exon 19 deletions) were proven in the FLAURA study [21]; subsequently, an increasing number of patients with anticancer therapy naïve, EGFR gene mutation positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer have received osimertinib.
