Our finding demonstrated that the receptor for IL-21 was more highly expressed by mucosal CD4+ T cells during intestinal infection than by other immune subsets in the colon LP (i.e. dendritic cells, macrophages, neutrophils, NK cells) and that mucosal CD4+ T cells expressed significant levels of transcripts for the IFN-γ receptor. Here, CD4 is linked to digestive system infectious disorder.
