One of the commonly used intestinal model, HT29-MTX cells are a homogeneous subpopulation of HT29 human colon carcinoma cells selected by adaptation to 10−5 M methotrexate, they produce mucins, in particular, MUC2, MUC5AC, and MUC5B; as such, they can be regarded as providing some similar function to goblet cells in mucin secreting [22].
