Among the proteins that decreased after the intervention were some that showed higher levels in the urine of HNSCC patients as compared to healthy subjects, namely Inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor heavy chain H4 (ITIH4), Pancreatic alpha-amylase (AMY2A), osteopontin (abbreviated as OPN–gene name SPP1), uromodulin (UMOD), aminopeptidase N (ANPEP), pro-epidermal growth factor (EGF), and vasorin (VASN). The gene discussed is SPP1; the disease is head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
