Notably, MGMT defects occur in many cancers including glioblastoma [32], colorectal cancer [33], leukemia [34, 35], lymphoma [36], small cell lung cancer [36], breast cancer [37], pancreas cancer [38], and melanoma [39], and in some cases increases the effectiveness of therapeutic agents that generate DNA lesions that are MGMT substrates [40].
