We and others have previously shown that interleukin-6 (IL-6) represents a key inflammatory cytokine and that its downstream effector STAT3 (signal transducer and activator of transcription 3) underlies CRC proliferation, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) [3], tumorigenesis [4], and stemness [5]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and colorectal carcinoma.
