TP53 and neoplasm: Examples include the EGFR oncogene, recurrently amplified in more than 10% of patients in 19/30 of the studied tumor types and having emerged together with bilaterians (Phylostratum 6), and the tumor suppressor TP53 which also dates back to early metazoan ancestors (Phylostratum 5) and is found recurrently deleted in an average of 12.73% of patients across all tumor types studied.
