Findings from the Genetic Epidemiology Network of Salt‐Sensitivity study (Han et al., 2017) demonstrated that common variants of Nox‐related genes are associated with blood pressure responses to dietary sodium intervention in a Chinese population. However, more research in the field is needed to elucidate fully the role of NOX5 in the development of hypertension and associated cardiovascular disease. This evidence concerns the gene NOX5 and hypertensive disorder.
