In C57BL/6 mice, Gal-3 deletion enhances liver disease which is characterized by higher liver infiltrates and necrosis (Figure 2A,B), increased serum level of ALT (Figure 2C), enhanced apoptosis and necroptosis of hepatocytes (Figure 2D–I), higher viral titers (Figure 2J) and higher number of MCMV-infected cells in liver (Figure 2K).
