In frozen tissues of HBV and HCV HCC both pathways are expressed, and in the three NASH HCCs the mTOR pathway is less active, but this could just be a function of the time of resection to being snap frozen, while histological the mTOR pathway was expressed, and is in agreement with a previous study examining p-mTOR and p-4E-BP1 expression in NASH HCC [38]. The gene discussed is EIF4EBP1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
