E‐cadherin andβ‐catenin are important epithelial adhesion molecules in normal epithelium,36 and β‐catenin plays a crucial role in cell‐cell adhesion mediated by E‐cadherin.21 A disturbance in epithelial cell adhesion, which leads to a more invasive and metastatic phenotype, is a hallmark of tumour progression.21 Our result also indicated that overexpression of WISP3 induced mesenchymal‐epithelial transition (Figure S6A), and enhanced the expression of E‐cadherin in Huh7 and PVTT‐1 (Figure S6B). This evidence concerns the gene CCN6 and neoplasm.
