CDH1 and neoplasm: E‐cadherin andβ‐catenin are important epithelial adhesion molecules in normal epithelium,36 and β‐catenin plays a crucial role in cell‐cell adhesion mediated by E‐cadherin.21 A disturbance in epithelial cell adhesion, which leads to a more invasive and metastatic phenotype, is a hallmark of tumour progression.21 Our result also indicated that overexpression of WISP3 induced mesenchymal‐epithelial transition (Figure S6A), and enhanced the expression of E‐cadherin in Huh7 and PVTT‐1 (Figure S6B).
