ITGA2 and Thrombocytopenia: There are reports in the literature linking the Integrin Subunit Alpha 2, ITGA2, with prolonged bleeding, thrombocytopenia and defective adhesion to collagen and sub-endothelium.24–26 In other reports, the association of variants in ITGA2 with increased thrombotic risk showed contradicting findings.27 Functional assessment of all the newly identified potential disease variants is required.
