Subgroup analysis by ethnicities showed that both the A allele and AA+AG genotypes of ADAM33 T2 polymorphism was associated with increased the asthma risk in Asian populations (A vs. G: OR = 1.44, 95% CI = 1.13–1.85, P = 0.004; AA+AG vs. GG: OR = 1.45, 95% CI = 1.11–1.88, P = 0.006), not in Caucasian populations (A vs. G: OR = 0.93, 95% CI = 0.80–1.09, P = 0.38; AA+AG vs. GG: OR = 0.88, 95% CI = 0.67–1.15, P = 0.34). The gene discussed is ADAM33; the disease is asthma.
