CD86 and breast cancer: In addition to an increased migratory capacity, macrophages in co-culture with melanoma or breast cancer cells exposed to hypoxia (H-N) showed a marked reduction in the expression of CD86 (M1 marker) (19% ± 5; p = 0.021 and 20% ± 7; p = 0.031, respectively) when compared to normoxic oxygenation in both compartments (N-N).
