GALNT17 and cancer: GALNT17 encodes an N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase that may play a role in membrane trafficking.68AUTS2 has been implicated in neurodevelopment,69 but AUTS2 overexpression in cancer has also been linked with resistance to chemotherapy and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition.70 It has been postulated that overexpression of AUTS2 is specific for metastases,70 which may be consistent with the inconspicuous gene expression results in the TCGA database.
