This BCR-ABL gene is ubiquitously expressed and is regulated by cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1) or cell division cycle protein 2 homolog (CDC2)-mediated by phosphorylation and therefore, the mutations in this gene cause loss of regulation of DNA damage response and apoptosis which are some of the strong contributory reasons for cancerous condition in CML patients6,8–11. Here, CDK1 is linked to chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
