MAPT and Alzheimer disease: Increased amyloid pathology measured by decreased CSF Aβ42 and increased cerebral amyloid on PET, as well as increased neuronal injury assessed by increased CSF tau, hypometabolism on FDG-PET, and atrophy on structural MRI, are important factors in assessing the degree of brain changes due to AD pathology and as a surrogate for prediction of progression in individuals with MCI2.
