Increasing evidence demonstrated that chitinases and chi-lectins, especially CHI3L1 (YKL-40), could play a key role in human cancer development, associated with bad prognosis and increased tumor angiogenesis [52,56] including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) [56], invasive cervical cancer (CxCa) [57], breast, ovarian or colon cancer [58]. Here, CHI3L1 is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
