Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder [5], which is characterized by the presence of two major neuropathological alterations: extracellular senile plaques consisting of β-amyloid (Aβ) and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) made up of the abnormally hyperphosphorylated tau [12, 15]. Here, MAPT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
