The NF-κB/Rel transcription factor has long been demonstrated to have an essential role in the cellular inflammatory response in general38 and IL-8 expression specifically, and our findings demonstrated that LCA-induced IL-8 upregulation in HCT116 CRC cells was mediated by the NF-κB pathway and that metformin blocked this pathway activation to obstruct IL-8 overexpression. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and colorectal carcinoma.
