A DNA rearrangement found in 40–50% of primary PCa tumors produces TMPRSS2-ERG, the fusion of the androgen induced transmembrane gene serine 2 protease gene (TMPRSS2) with members of the erythroblast transformation-specific related gene (ERG) family of transcription factors (Tomlins et al., 2005), which results in the androgen-dependent ERG oncogenic expression (Nam et al., 2007; Perner et al., 2007; Tu et al., 2007; Albadine et al., 2009; Fine et al., 2010). This evidence concerns the gene TMPRSS2 and posterior cortical atrophy.
