INS and Insulin resistance: Acute exercise reduced also levels of serum insulin 1-h post-recovery (n = 6, 6.78 ± 3.12 vs. 4.48 ± 2.65 mIU/l, p = 0.019), but not immediately after the run (p = 0.376), indicating improvements in insulin sensitivity (lowering HOMA-IR; homeostatic model assessment - insulin resistance) 1-h post-exercise (1.56 ± 0.86 vs. 0.92 ± 0.59, p = 0.018), but not immediately after the run (p = 0.171).
