Supporting this idea, we reported that variant rs2304277, located in the 3′‐UTR of the glycosylase gene OGG1, is associated with higher ovarian cancer risk in BRCA1 mutation carriers, probably due to transcriptional downregulation of OGG1 and increased DNA damage and telomere instability (Benítez‐Buelga et al., 2016). Here, OGG1 is linked to ovarian carcinoma.
