In a previous study, using a tagging SNP approach in a large series of BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers (n = 23 463) from the CIMBA consortium, we found that SNP rs34259 showed the strongest association with ovarian cancer risk among all SNPs covering the UNG gene (tagged or imputed): HR: 0.80, 95% CI: 0.69–0.94, P = 7.6 × 10−3 (Osorio et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene BRCA2 and ovarian carcinoma.
