ATG5 and adenocarcinoma: KRAS and Tp53 status is also very important; indeed, in KRAS-mutant mice lacking ATG5 or ATG7 genes, pre-malignant lesions in the pancreas were revealed, while in the KRAS and Tp53-deficient mice, the loss of ATG5 or ATG7 genes induced the acquisition of malignancy and the development of adenocarcinomas [123].
