Due to the similarity in structure between RIG-I and MDA5 and the mutual importance of the N-terminal CARDs, we hypothesized that during RNA virus infections or agonists stimulation, MDA5 may also interact with certain 14-3-3 isoforms through the N-terminal CARDs to activate IFNβ signaling pathway to counteract viral infections. This evidence concerns the gene IFNB1 and viral infectious disease.
