Marc Rogers from the Holloszy laboratory had previously reported improved glucose tolerance after just 7 days of exercise training (157), and so a similar exercise training study was performed in individuals with type 2 diabetes, but using a two-stage hyperinsulinemic (40, 1,000 mU·m−2·min−1) euglycemic clamp and an isotopic glucose tracer to measure insulin sensitivity and responsiveness, and hepatic glucose production, respectively (110). Here, INS is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
