An analysis of liver tissue from the splenectomy group revealed a decrease in interface hepatitis (Figure 2(c)) and significant attenuation of liver fibrosis, as indicated by a semiquantitative analysis of α-SMA-positive areas (P<0.05) (Figures 2(d) and 2(e)), Masson-stained areas (Figure 2(f)), and Ishak scores (P<0.05) (Figure 2(g)).
