In 285 Icelandic women with BRCA2 mutations, the use of adjuvant chemotherapy decreased the risk of mortality (HR = 0.35; 95% CI 0.16–0.80, p = 0.01); this was not observed in (matched) sporadic breast cancers in Iceland (HR = 0.98; 95% CI 0.47–2.04, p = 0.96).10 In the current study, we observe a significant benefit associated with chemotherapy neither in women with BRCA2-associated breast cancer (HR = 1.00; 95% CI 0.57–1.74, p = 1.00), nor in the subgroup of women with ER-positive tumours (HR = 1.03; 95%CI 0.51–2.06; p = 0.94). The gene discussed is BRCA2; the disease is neoplasm.
