Hara et al. demonstrated that cetuximab showed moderate antitumor activity to MKN-28 cells by slightly inhibiting ligand-induced phosphorylation of protein kinase B and extracellular signal-regulated kinase, but cetuximab in combination with IL-2 significantly inhibited subcutaneous and intraperitoneal tumor growth of MKN-28 cells in nude mice by NK cell-mediated ADCC rather than the blockade of the intracellular signaling pathway (96).
