Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) is a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor which is involved in the transmission of proliferation and differentiation signals.8, 9 HER2 overexpression has been documented in some cancer types, and is associated with worse biologic behavior and poor prognosis.9, 10 The literature contains conflicting data regarding HER2 expression, and the clinical significance of HER2 in HCC is still ambiguous. This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
