Besides alterations common to prostatic adenocarcinoma like TMPRSS2-ERG fusion and alterations in DNA damage repair proteins (e.g. BRCA1, BRCA2, FANCA), several genes have been identified specific for neuroendocrine transdifferentiation, like TP53, RB1, AURKA (Aurora Kinase A), MYCN, and MTOR [24–30]. This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and prostate adenocarcinoma.
