Whether rapamycin is able to relieve the progeroid deficits manifested in AIMP3 TG mice is an interesting question because rapamycin‐mediated autophagy induction rescued premature aging of a rodent model of progeria, including Hutchinson–Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS), through the degradation of mutated lamin A protein (Blagosklonny, 2011). The gene discussed is EEF1E1; the disease is progeroid syndrome.
