HB has been able to validate well-known loci under positive selection in European populations, such as SLC24A5 [59, 60] (Additional file 1: Figure S1a) and LCT [59, 61] (Additional file 1: Figure S1b); EDAR in Asian populations [55, 59] (Additional file 1: Figure S1c) or DARC in African populations [62] (Additional file 1: Figure S1d), and among others, has been used to detect positive selection in micronutrient and protein quantitative trait loci [63], and in common risk alleles associated to autism spectrum disorder [64]. This evidence concerns the gene SLC24A5 and autism spectrum disorder.
