In addition to cell lines, we also compared the mRNA expression levels of LOX and LOXL1-4 in clinical tissue specimens of human benign nevi and malignant melanomas, and found LOXL1 (fold 1.6; p = 0.0028) and LOXL2 (fold 2.0; p = 0.00016) to be significantly upregulated in the primary melanomas (Figure 6A). The gene discussed is LOXL2; the disease is melanoma.
