Previous reviews have evaluated the effects of albumin therapy both in cirrhotic patients with infections (SBP and non-SBP)4 5 and in patients with cirrhosis-related ascites undergoing paracentesis.6 7 The reviews of albumin use in patients with infections,4 5 however, were written more than 5 years ago and new studies may have been conducted since. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and infection.
