Gao D. et al. (2017) demonstrated that MALAT1 is highly expressed in MM along with HMGB1 to promote carcinogenesis by significantly expressing two key autophagy regulatory proteins LC3B and Beclin 1 (The mammalian ortholog of yeast ATG6). Their in vivo investigation suggests that knockdown of MALAT1 would be an effective target of MM growth inhibition by autophagy suppression (Gao D. et al., 2017). The gene discussed is MAP1LC3B; the disease is Miyoshi myopathy.
