Numerous studies have proved that DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs, including DNMT1, DNMT3A and DNMT3B) are the main factors involving in the regulation of oncogenes and anti-oncogenes in various tumors including HCC, and DNMT1 is the most abundant type of DNMTs which catalyzes DNA methylation33–35. This evidence concerns the gene DNMT3A and hepatocellular carcinoma.
