CXCL10 is a key mediator in preeclampsia [40, 74] and in the innate immune response to Toxoplasma Gondii [39], two of the best established immune risk factors for schizophrenia [6, 37, 38], so this has implications for understanding gene × environment risk interactions in the disease. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL10 and schizophrenia.
