Long-term administration of endothelin receptor antagonist atrasentan has been demonstrated to improve coronary endothelial function in patients with early atherosclerosis [87] and autocrine production of endothelin-1 accounts for 53.2% of coronary tone in advanced transplant coronary arteriosclerosis [88], making the cotherapy with endothelin receptor antagonists very attractive in patients with coronary atherosclerosis, also representing a major target group for organic nitrate therapy [1, 2]. Here, EDN1 is linked to atherosclerosis.
